Many researchers, scientists, service providers and those from industry worldwide have often been working independently to explore and develop technologies to create early warning systems for opiate overdose. The International Technology Solutions to Prevent Opiate Overdose Network [ITSPOON] is an attempt to bring this expertise and knowledge together to share ideas, data and resource to synergise technological developments that will ultimately reduce opiate-related deaths globally. 

Aim:

To draw on the experience, learning and expertise of the network members to aid the development of effective technologies to prevent acute opiate overdose.

Objectives:

• To bring academics, scientists, technicians, and service providers together who share an interest in acute opiate overdose prevention technologies
• To share ideas, data and insights as a collaborative to drive further innovation
• To identify risks to opiate users, current and emerging, that considers the role of technology to mitigate those risks
• To gain better understanding of genetic, race, geo-societal and nation differences and similarities when considering technology with a view to being inclusive and focussing on those with the least resource
• To support the development of new research and technologies and to collaboratively host and pilot these through their networks
• To identify funding to support the endeavours and membership of the group
• To be inclusive for anyone that is interested in the area and works for not-for-profit organisation
• To consider the ethical implications of data storage, sharing and analysis
